Your Research Deserves More Than 20 Minutes in a Conference Room

2026 ic-QRTM is underway.

October 7, 2026

For the third year, qualitative researchers from around the world are sharing their work through our month-long YouTube conference. And something interesting happens when research is given more than a few minutes in a conference room.

It has time to travel.

It has time to be discovered.

It has time to reach people who might never have been in the original audience.

30 Days of Insight

Traditional conferences ask us to make choices.

  • Which presentation will you attend?
  • Which one will you miss?
  • What happens when two presentations you want to see are scheduled at the same time?

At ic-QRTM, you have the entire month to explore. Presentations are available throughout the month on RTM’s YouTube channel, along with live virtual sessions that will be added to YouTube, giving you the opportunity to follow your curiosity rather than race from session to session.

  • Maybe you begin with a presentation directly related to your research.
  • Then you notice another presentation from a researcher in a different country.
  • You watch it.
  • It leads you somewhere unexpected.

That’s the experience we hoped to create with 30 Days of Insight.

Your research has already taken you somewhere. Now let it travel.

A presentation can go farther than its presenter

One of the remarkable things about the ic-QRTM format is what happens when a presentation leaves the conference schedule.

  • It can be discovered by someone who wasn’t planning to attend.
  • A student can find it while exploring a research topic.
  • A faculty member can share it with a class.
  • A researcher can send it to a colleague on another continent.
  • Someone can return to it days later.

The presentation is no longer limited to the people who happened to be in the right place at the right time.

The research can travel. And that matters.

Because researchers invest enormous amounts of time in producing knowledge. Their work deserves opportunities to reach audiences beyond their immediate academic communities.

Listening beyond what we already know

This year’s theme is Voices in Community: Weaving Qualitative Inquiry Across Lands & Traditions.

One way we weave a research community is by listening beyond our usual circles. During 2026 ic-QRTM, take a chance on a presentation that isn’t exactly what you were looking for.

  • Listen to research from another country.
  • Explore a discipline outside your own.
  • Encounter a methodological tradition you don’t know well.
  • You may discover an idea that changes a question you’re asking.
  • You may encounter a perspective that challenges an assumption.
  • Or you may simply discover a researcher whose work you want to follow.

That’s the value of giving ourselves time to explore.

The conference is happening now

The presentations are being shared throughout October. So don’t wait until the end of the month to explore ic-QRTM.

Start with one presentation.

Then see where it takes you.

Watch. Listen. Discover. Share.

And if something resonates with you, let the researcher know. A comment, a question, or a shared presentation can turn viewing into a connection.

30 Days of Insight. One Global Community. Zero Barriers.

The research is here.
